Job Title: Demolition Laborer
Starting Salary: $20–$33 per hour
Status: Full-Time – Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

The Demolition Laborer performs manual and skilled demolition work while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, quality, and teamwork. Employees progress through increasing levels of responsibility based on demonstrated skills, performance, training, certifications, safety record, attendance, productivity, equipment proficiency, and leadership—not solely on tenure. Responsibilities may include general labor, interior and structural demolition, material handling, equipment operation, crew support, and mentoring less-experienced employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general, interior, selective, concrete, and structural demolition activities.

  • Load, unload, sort, segregate, and remove demolition materials and debris.

  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic tools, and applicable equipment.

  • Operate qualified equipment such as skid steers, aerial lifts, and compact equipment.

  • Follow project plans, work instructions, demolition sequences, and safety procedures.

  • Perform equipment inspections and maintain tools and equipment properly.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

  • Recognize and report hazards and changing job-site conditions.

  • Meet established productivity and quality standards.

  • Assist with job-site layout, sequencing, dust control, material management, and equipment coordination.

  • Train and mentor less-experienced employees as skills and experience develop.

  • Lead small crews or serve as a working lead when assigned.

  • Assist Foremen with production planning, workflow, scheduling, and job-site coordination.

  • Maintain required documentation and communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.

  • Wear and properly use all required PPE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding demolition work.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and perform repetitive physical tasks.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and around dust, noise, vibration, and heavy equipment.

  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and progressively work with less supervision.

  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, positive attitude, initiative, and commitment to safety.

  • Advancement requires demonstrated competency, productivity, quality of work, training completion, certification status, communication, teamwork, and leadership ability.

  • Higher-level positions require demonstrated proficiency in demolition techniques, equipment operation, hazard recognition, problem-solving, crew coordination, and leadership.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety

  • Aerial Lift / Scissor Lift/Boom Lift Certification

  • Equipment-specific qualifications, as applicable

  • Valid Driver’s License
